Point Blank Online Music College is currently running a songwriting competition that looks interesting, and has some great prizes. If you’re an up & coming writer, it’s definitely worth checking this out. The competition offers the opportunity for entrants to write a song onto an instrumental backing track created by songwriter/producer Jony Rockstar, who has written for the likes of Amy Winehouse, Alicia Keys, Sugarbabes, and others.

To celebrate Point Blank’s new partnership with SoundCloud we are hosting an exciting songwriting competition on SoundCloud’s popular music-sharing interface featuring top songwriter Jony Rockstar. To enter you need to write and record a song (any style) onto the instrumental backing track supplied. This track has been exclusively provided by Jony who has written and produced top ten hits for Sugababes, Amy Winehouse, Alicia Keys and Lily Allen. You can either write your song straight over the backing track as it is or you can use the parts in any order you like and remix them before you record the vocals. If you are a producer you can team up with a vocalist. Jony himself will check out the entries and pick the winner. So you will actually be writing a track with a Top Ten hit songwriter!
