Beating Songwriter's Block: Jump-Start Your Words and Music - Gary EwerMusic Connection has published an article I wrote for their July issue, entitled “Improvise Your Way To Your Next Song.” It’s based on some of the ideas I’ve put in my new book, “Beating Songwriter’s Block: Jump-Start Your Words and Music“, published by Backbeat Books, a subsidiary of Hal Leonard Corporation.

In that article, I’ve offered ten tips – five relating to the creation of melodies, and the other five pertaining to writing better lyrics. Improvising is a great way to get your creative mind in gear. It’s a no-pressure way to generate musical ideas, because the nature of improvisation makes it easy to immediately toss anything that doesn’t work for you.
