I’m happy to announce that this week AppsForSongwriters.com went live. It’s a convenient online portal for browsing the various musical products I’ve been offering for more than ten years. In addition, I’ve been working with the company, “Walking Concepts“, to begin providing most of my materials for the iPhone and iPod Touch, and it’s proving to be a very positive experience.
AppsForSongwriters.com was designed by Matthew McMullen, and presents various songwriting materials in two columns: one for iPhone/iPod apps, and one for PDFs designed for desktop/laptop study.
Two of my e-books have been released for the iPhone/iPod Touch: “The Essential Secrets of Songwriting”, and “Essential Chord Progressions.” My second book of chord progressions, “More Essential Chord Progressions”, will be next on the list.
I’ve got other materials in development, so look for this page to expand soon. First, I’ve been in the planning stages of an instructional text to help with the writing of vocal harmonies. For many songwriters, producers and arrangers, creating good vocal harmonies seems to involve a healthy dose of “hit-or-miss”. I want to show you that vocal harmonies, when well-done, can add that spark that can take a good song and turn it into something great.
Secondly, (and this one’s been getting a little bit weird!) I’ve been working on constructing a very comprehensive rating system/checklist for songs. It’s based on the idea that there might actually be a way of predicting how successful a song might be. The weird bit is that I’ve been experimenting with a rating system that can actually assign a numerical value to a song. I’m still working on that one; I don’t want to do it if it isn’t at least somewhat accurate, and helpful to songwriters.
I’ll have more about those two projects in the coming weeks and months.
For now, I’d encourage you to take a look at AppsforSongwriters.com. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free as always to write me.
